Aran Woollen Mills were established in 1965 by the Hughes family, and is an Irish brand creating fine knitwear using 100% wool. They are passionate about creating beautiful knitwear using sustainable methods and materials, as well as having a tight-knit (pardon the pun) team in control of every step of manufacturing, from spinning the yarn to sewing by hand.

Due to their use of wool as their prime manufacturing material, Aran Woollen Mills automatically have a lower carbon footprint than many of their competitors, as wool is a natural material which is biodegradable (their jumpers do stand the test of time though!). They are also dedicated to ethical methods of retrieving wool, which is good news for the sheep. The main types of wool used is their Merino, which is luxurious and incredibly soft, and Worsted, a more practical and authentic choice, made for more outdoorsy types (these wool jumpers have been worn by fishermen throughout the ages, protecting them from the elements).

Aran Woollen Mills's biggest inspiration is the Irish countryside, honouring traditional craftsmanship, and being kind to the world that sustains us, and this comes across in their finely crafted and beautifully designed knitwear.
